Local Teens Learn the Devastating Impacts of Distracted Driving

Teen DriveThe Teen DRIVE: Distracted Reality and Interactive Virtual Education simulation van, run by the UMass Memorial Medical Center Injury Prevention Program and funded by the Allstate Foundation, recently visited a few area high schools to give young drivers a virtual look at how driving while distracted or impaired can lead to disastrous events. As reported by the Telegram & Gazette, the simulation shows students not only how losing focus on the road can cause an accident, but how it also can have long-term effects on their pocketbooks and more importantly their futures.

Join Study to Help Design Weight Loss App

The Medical School seeks participates to join a research focus group to provide feedback on a mobile app for weight loss and stress management. Individuals’ input will help with the design of the app. Eligibility requirements include having an interest to lose weight, 18 years or older, use a smartphone. Study participation is one hour.
