Dr. Schaal

“In just two years’ time as the department chair of ophthalmology at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Shlomit Schaal, MD, Phd, has done about as much as a medical chair might hope to accomplish during a career,” wrote Worcester Business Journal reporter, Grant Welker, following a recent one-to-one interview with Dr. Schaal. Read the article. Learn why Dr. Schaal chose to accept the position at our Medical Center; how she and her team were able to bring the department’s booking times down from five months to same-day visits at some locations; and what other exciting changes are afoot for this innovative department.

Accreditation Kudos to Our Comprehensive Breast Center

The Comprehensive Breast Center has once again earned three-year full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Our Comprehensive Breast Center is the only facility in Central Massachusetts to achieve this prestigious status. The NAPC accreditation team called our Comprehensive Breast Center “a top-notch facility” that in many instances far exceeded every standard for accreditation. They noted, “This is a spectacular center with an engaged team of highly qualified professionals. The administrative support is evident in many ways, especially in the construction of an outstanding physical facility where patient care and comfort is prioritized in every way.” Well done and congratulations to all in earning this distinction once again!
