Appreciate the Arts Right Here at Our Medical Center

Hosted by our Capital Planning and Food Services departments, members of the Society of Mosaic American Artists recently visited our Memorial Campus and Ambulatory Care Center as part of their Boston 2018 conference. “We would like to express our deepest gratitude to UMass Memorial for allowing us and our conference attendees to view the amazing collection of art that has been assembled there,” the event co-chairs wrote in a letter of thanks. “We feel that this is very beneficial for the patients, staff and families, and our tour attendees really enjoyed it, every one of them!” Conference attendees were particularly impressed with the diversity of art and the use of talented regional artists.

Congratulations to the Capital Planning Department for working on improving its Idea System to reach five-star status! Lean Green Belts from the area brought the team together to review the Idea System guide and generated ideas on how they can make their Idea System more focused and engaging. Members from the team will be at the Innovation Celebration, this Wednesday, April 19, noon to 1 pm, Hahnemann Campus lobby. Stop by to learn about their ideas and ask questions! Remember: To celebrate your team, you can win a team $25 gift card to Dunkin Donuts or Papa Gino’s. Learn more.

Thanks to Medical Center and Medical School volunteers who participated in United Way’s annual Day of Caring last Thursday. This year’s project aided the Belmont Street Community School and Elizabeth Betty Price Playground, located in Worcester’s Bell Hill neighborhood. The group of more than 25 volunteers spent the morning trimming shrubs, raking lawns, planting flowers, mulching and clearing debris. Participation by our employees in this annual event is highly valued and important in helping to touch our community. Special thanks go out to Office of Capital Planning (which joined this initiative as part of an Idea Board submission), Community Relations Department and Medical Center and Medical School grounds crews for making this a successful event.
