Free Pancreatic Cancer Education Program Offered

Pancreatic CancerOur Cancer Center is offering a free patient and family education program on pancreatic cancer care and research on Wednesday, December 12, 8:30 to 11 am at the University Campus, Albert Sherman Center. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:45 am. The keynote address will be presented by visiting professor Jennifer Tseng, MD, MPH, surgeon-in-chief, Boston Medical Center, and Utley professor and chair of surgery, Boston University School of Medicine. Don’t Miss Deadline for Jewell Palliative Care Scholar Program

Applications are being accepted until Friday, December 29 for the Jewell Palliative Care Scholar Program. The course was created to provide caregivers with training and tools to assist patients and families in end-of-life care. The seven-week program will prepare nurses for Hospice & Palliative Care Credentialing Center Certification (HPCC). A completed online application with corresponding letters of recommendation will be considered for course selection. To learn more about the program, download the brochure. All Staff Invited to Attend Compassion in Action Healthcare Conference

As a Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare hospital, all staff members are invited to attend the Compassion in Action Healthcare Conference in Boston from Saturday, June 25 to Tuesday, June 27. The conference works to bring together clinicians, patients and health system leaders who are committed to making compassion a priority in their communities. Agenda items include:

  • Articulating and aligning core values
  • Fostering intra/inter-personal skills to create authentic healing relationships
  • The new high-functioning team: Who’s on it and how does it work?

Save the Date: Annual Levine Symposium Is Thursday, June 15

The 2017 Peter H. Levine Quality and Patient Safety Symposium is Thursday, June 15, Faculty Conference Room, University Campus, 8 am to 1 pm. The event will feature:

  • Remarks by Medical Center leaders Steve Tosi, MD, chief physician executive, and Mitch Gitkind, MD, associate chief medical officer
  • A keynote presentation by Alicia Wierenga, MSN, NP, on her work to improve patient experience
  • Rapid-fire presentations by graduates of our Quality Scholars and Lean Black Belt programs
  • Project posters outlining completed or ongoing quality improvement projects
