Health Watch: Dr. Straight Explains Endometriosis and Treatment

Did you know that a woman could have endometriosis and not even realize it? “Endometriosis is a disease that’s actually mediated by estrogen that causes cells and tissue that typically line the uterus to be able to grow outside the uterus inside the abdomen,” says Celeste Straight, MD, obstetrics and gynecology. While some women may experience cyclic pain, chronic pain or have difficulty becoming pregnant, others may not have any symptoms at all. In this Health Watch segment, Dr. Straight talks about what women need to know about endometriosis and discusses treatment options such as over-the-counter pain relievers, contraceptives, other hormones or surgery.
