Patriots pride was seen all over the Memorial Campus on Super Bowl Sunday. Father-son duo, Salvatore DiForte, 55, and Louis DiForte, 83, were both recovering from spinal surgeries when our caregivers set a plan in motion to set up their own Super Bowl party. Tzvi Jonas, MD, internal medicine, praised Steven LaPlante, patient services manager; Megan Cederholm, occupational therapy; Beth Munter, RN; Briana Rumery, RN; and Kyle Alpaugh, MD, orthopedic surgery, who provided the additional “treatment” the patients received. “We know and we understand, that small things like this can have a big impact,” said Dr. Jonas. “If they win, it lifts people.” Read Telegram & Gazette article.

Born to be Patriots’ fans, these Medical Center babies made a huge splash on the internet with their adorable fan gear.

patriots-nicu-baby-jacob-desgrosseilliers-2-5-17Our brand new patients and Patriots’ fans melted hearts and broke the internet when mother-baby nurse Susan Contonio, RN, posted the newborns’ photo (above) to Facebook yesterday. These sweet (and smart!) newborns rooted on their favorite team while wrapped in Patriots’ blankets, made by Susan, and adorable pom-pom hats, courtesy of fellow mother-baby nurse Jodie Chapdelaine, RN. The post quickly gained the attention of Fox 25, which shared the photo on its Facebook page, resulting in an astounding 45,000 likes! Not to be outdone, one of our tiniest Patriot fans, Jacob Desgrosseilliers, pictured left, showed his team spirit while watching his first game from our NICU! See Boston Globe story.
