It’s Prime Time to Recognize Our Primary Care Providers

2jehggThere’s more to celebrate in October than pumpkin spice and Halloween candy. It’s Primary Care Month, a great opportunity to recognize the hundreds of primary care physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants making a difference across our health care system. Our hospital clinics, Community Medical Group, Community Health Centers, and private and independent caregivers serve more than 70 percent of Central Massachusetts’ communities and patients. The most recent figures from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services show that the UMass Memorial Medicare Accountable Care Organization ranked first in New England and 15th nationally, with much of the credit attributed to our primary care physicians. “I’m incredibly proud of our primary care caregivers,” said Daniel Lasser, MD, chair, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and senior vice president for primary care. “They deserve our whole-hearted recognition for delivering high-quality care to all of our patients.”
