Excited to get some sun this summer? It’s the last information table session in observance of National Trauma Awareness Month. Stop by the Injury Prevention Center table Tuesday, May 23, 11 am to 1 pm, University Campus, near the pharmacy and pick up your summer safety checklist! Parents can get tips about pool and car safety and take the fact or myth quiz on summer safety. While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up your free frisbee!

 

100 Deadliest Days of Summer Have Begun

On Tuesday, Lt. Governor Karyn Polito was joined on the University Campus by Medical Center President Patrick Muldoon, trauma surgeon Michael Hirsh, MD, Highway Safety Division officials along with campus, local and state police to announce a new publicity campaign targeting motorists and distracted driving habits. Referred to as the “100 deadliest days,” Memorial Day to Labor Day is the peak time of year for vehicular crashes. Dr. Hirsch spoke about the results of distracted driving and experiences of fatal or disabling patient outcomes that could be prevented. Read Telegram & Gazette story to learn more.
